from Dr. Williard:

As the world continues to rapidly change, and the area of vocal instruction continues to expand, we have an opportunity to gain new perspectives, and to see that our purpose in teaching and singing goes beyond the career, and lives more in our connection to humanity.

If we begin to listen to the human voice as a reflection of our individual and collective nervous system, the voice quickly becomes a wellness indicator of our state of being and its function in all parts of life. Now more than ever, our focus as educators and students needs to be directed towards: creating a healthy relationship with self, developing a flexible mindset that sees vulnerability as strength, and creating situations and environments that grow our self-confidence. If this is the predominant focus, then everyone will feel that they have been given the opportunity to find their own voice, no matter where or how it is being used.

Join Dr. Williard as he takes us through his somatic breathing and vocal integration method, combining structure, function, and emotion into one process. The aim of the workshop is to explore new ways of creating a deeper relationship with self and breath, discovering an awareness that grounds the singer in the somatic principles of focusing, feeling, and sensing one's own body and sound from the inside-out.
